TO EAT OR WHAT TO EAT IS THE QUESTION?

Actually more often than not it is not just a question but a major dilemma.

Trust me. I know.
Been there and still at it!

Having been  diagnosed with an amalgamation of Food and Environment Allergies, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Chronic Urticaria I quite literally have to always watch what I eat.

It has been over 4 years since I have eaten at a restaurant and the only times I have eaten out (at friends/relatives houses) has been when I have carried my ingredients with me.

Life looked pretty bleak in the beginning to me as all I could eat could literally be counted on the fingers of my hand - 5 veggies, 1 fruit, chicken, mutton, rice, wheat, 1 brand of curd, butter, bread and a few limited spices. Okay so that’s probably a bit more than the 10 fingers I do possess and I solemnly swear that I am not in any way a Hydra growing extra fingers to count on.

I lost 15 kgs and was on a downward spiral rushing from one doctor to the other, until I got some sage advice from not 1 but 3 doctors - Stop running around from pillar to post and popping pills. Nothing will help you until you relax and start eating only home food.

And I did.

Though I am not cured completely I can now eat a smorgasbord of veggies, fruits and other things, which is great for a foodie like me

FOOD as I discovered and am still discovering is not just for sustenance and taste (drool) but also for healing our bodies. Over the course of these years I have read many books and write-ups, watched many episodes of Masterchef Australia  and experimented with many ingredients on myself and friends and family. I have discovered super foods that heal and others  that reduce discomfort, slowly eliminating my dependence on some medicines. With time I realized to trust my instinct, my GutInstinct.

Our instinct is what saves us from many impending disasters in our lives and I believe our GutInstinct can save us from many ailments too for it is our food that keeps our gut happy which in turn keeps us happy and healthy.

I believe that knowledge is power and with it we can combat nearly anything. This blog is all about sharing my experiences in the hope that it helps others listen, trust and heal their gut.
