INFLAMMATION – PART I – ALIEN INVASION
Fire
in the Hole – Yeah!
Tummy
Pain – Yeah!
Swelling
somewhere – Yeah!
And
all because the ALIEN has landed (either in our tummy or elsewhere in our body)
Am
I a Sci-Fi fan – Yeah!
The
ALIEN or Extra Terrestrial mentioned here is the stimuli that invades our body
be it a speck of pollen, an errant food particle, a cut on our skin, a burn on
our hand, bacteria in our throat or a virus in our tummies.
And
the fallout/casualty/response to this invasion is INFLAMMATION or in
simpler words swelling, some visible but a lot mostly hidden.
So we have inflammation, big deal, you
think!
It
is really, a very big deal!
Just
like when the aliens invade earth in movies like ID (Independence Day), they
also destroy things. That destruction/Inflammation in us is connected to
nearly every disease – chronic or non-chronic around us, from a simple cold or mouth ulcer to
allergies, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Crohn’s and Celiac Disease, Lupus, Ulcerative and Non-Ulcerative Colitis,
Heart Disease, Obesity, High Blood Pressure and even Cancer to name just a few.
So
what do you do if like me the alien has landed in you?
Do
we Freak out and jump all around?
Or should we put on our thinking caps
consult our Spock’s* and build ourselves a giant PHASER** - Yes you got me I’m
a TREKKIE!
*Spock’s
= Doctor/Nutritionist ** Phaser =
Super New Diet
So
how do we build our giant Phaser? What do we put in it and what do we leave
out?
To fight the Alien in my body I researched
and compiled a lot of data and experimented on myself, always trusting my GutInstinct.
It has helped me move from eating a mere handful of foods to quite a lot of
foods. Sharing what foods we need to avoid to reduce inflammation and what we
need to incorporate in our diet to tackle it in the following blog posts, it
might help you in finding and building your very own Phaser.
